very thorough, thank you for helping hundreds -if not thousands of us simpletons.
I had tried to reset by pressing the RED reset button on the bottom of my insinkerator and nothing happened when I flipped disposal switch on. So after following the instructions above, I was able to get it working perfectly! Thanks a lot!

Thanks for your clear and concise directions! We had both issues issues (hum and no hum) with the disposal, and I was able to fix it successfully.When I looked under the sink there was even a hex wrench that came with the unit I had never noticed before!

I was in the process of tearing out the whole sink just to get the garbage disposal out!! Then I came across this post, worked exactly as you instructed! I turned that hex 1 time and it worked like new again. Thanks!

Used all of the tricks. It turns free but still just humms when I trun the power on? To bad, maybe need a new one and they have gone up in price!

OMG! I’m living in a rental with a deadbeat landlord, but cheap rent so I haven’t made a fuss. I have wasted countless gallons of drano, but just as I was about to spend five hundred dollars on a plumber it turns out it all I needed was a few turns of a hex key.

Amazing interwebs (and rob), you win again.
